Transport

We all rely on safe and secure transport networks and infrastructure across our cities, states and the world. Transport moves millions of people each day and supports millions more moving goods over long distances. The security threat to transport systems continues to escalate.

SCG understands the complex web of challenges, including security threats and risks that face our transport networks, across land, air and sea.
Our security capability and services apply to the full spectrum of transport infrastructure. Our clients own and operate:
- Rail Infrastructure
- Aviation
- Ports
- Intermodal and freight terminals
- Roads
- Operation Centres and Control Rooms
Our Transport team delivers a wide range of multi-disciplinary security and communications services, including strategic advisory, security planning, security threat and risk analysis, technical engineering and design assurance, construction oversight and certification.
Our approach to security planning, risk and operational insights supports our delivery of design engineering and assurance services. We understand and value the importance of security and resilience guidelines, standards, regulations and qualifications across transport sectors.

Our Transport team delivers a wide range of multi-disciplinary security and communications services, including strategic advisory, security planning, security threat and risk analysis, technical engineering and design assurance, construction oversight and certification.

In aviation, security controlled airports are published in the government gazette. They determine the extent and scope of powers that can be exercised in those airports under the Australian Transport Security Act.
Security controlled airports require specialist, aviation security planning and security advice as delivered by SCG, including:
- Transport security obligations
- Airport operators’ security requirements
- Security plans/programs
- Security controlled airport boundary
- Landside and airside security zones
- Restrict public access
- Prevent unlawful interference with airport facilities, people or aircraft
- Secure critical infrastructure including:
- Fuel storage areas
- Cargo and baggage handling facilities
- Navigation aids
- Other installations where interference or damage could put facility or vehicle/craft operation at risk
The genesis of our contemporary and extensive experience in passenger rail has been in NSW where SCG has attained certification as a Transport for NSW (TfNSW) Technically Assured Organisation (TAO) for physical security. This is a mandatory requirement for all organisations in the TfNSW supply chain making technical decisions related to transport assets and services.
Transport of freight and cargo presents different threats, risks and challenges and is governed by a range of regulations, standards and practices; for example, applying for a licence to operate a freight rail terminal as a ‘customs depot’ as defined by the Customs Act 1901 requires security risk assessment, planning, design, security operations and a demonstrated ability to meet the licence obligations according to Australian Customs Notice No. 2022/46.
