DUG Data Centre
DUG is a multinational technology company providing high-performance computing as a service and has one of the largest supercomputer networks in the world. Its data centres use servers submerged in non-toxic, non-flammable, biodegradable dielectric fluid, meaning they use around 46 per cent less power to operate than traditional air-cooled centres and making them some of the greenest computer centres in the world.

SCG was engaged by DUG to provide SCEC consultancy services for the planning, design and construction of a new data centre in Narngulu, Geraldton in WA’s midwest region. It was designed to meet the minimum requirements of Physical Security Zone 3 of the Protective Security Policy Framework (with scalable expansion) to enable the site to handle sensitive and classified information.
SCG’s initial scope of work included a site evaluation, security risk assessment and functional design brief.
Following successful delivery of these, our engagement was extended to include design and documentation, and construction administration services, for the first phase of the project.
The project included a new purpose-built site and data centre, main entry and secure perimeter fence, site security infrastructure and secure utilities.
