Newcastle Terminal Extension Project
SCG was engaged by COX Architecture as principal design consultant for security design and construction works as part of the Newcastle Airport Terminal Expansion.

The expansion involved an upgrade of the terminal to accommodate codes C and E long-range aircraft, allowing greater international air freight (and associated industrial expansion) and increased numbers of tourism passengers.
To support this increase in capability, the expansion project was required to deliver:
- Fitout of terminal spaces occupied by airport operational functions
- Review of new demands against existing infrastructure and capacity
- New terminal precinct review of security for liquids, aerosols and gels, bio-security requirements, customs and baggage handling
SCG’s scope of services included:
- Security aviation planning and risk advisory related to:
- Security aviation zoning
- Blast and vehicle-as-a-weapon events
- Crowded places
- 30% concept design
- 60% schematic design
- 90% detailed design
- 100% final design
- Construction phase services, including acceptance testing and certification/accreditation assistance
- Defects liability services and project closeout
