Firing Range & Ballistics Design

Specialist Firing Range Planning & Design Services
SCG has successfully delivered approximately 20 firing range projects across Australia and internationally, including facilities for Victoria Police, NSW Police, Australian Federal Police, South Australia Police and Defence. In addition, prior to the existence of SCG, our team members delivered several large international range complexes.
Proven Track Record with Law Enforcement and Defence
Our experience includes the scoping, planning and design of new builds, life-cycle range upgrades and remediation projects. Often these works involve the replacement of outdated baffle systems with SCG’s ballistic and acoustic modular panel assemblies, the upgrade of walls to incorporate ballistic 90/270/360-degree containment and anti-ricochet linings, and the upgrade of the primary ballistic protection systems and bullet traps.
Coordination with architecture, structures and building services is essential, with our in-house Revit capability ensuring design integration and relevant documentation for head and specialist installing contractors.

End-to-End Assurance and Compliance
Our firing range services are grounded in compliance, which includes a regime of gateway approvals for each project. SCG then design, document and procure the firing range services in compliance with this.
Following the appointment of the installing trades, we coordinate the ballistic testing of primary materials used to stop or prevent the ricochet of ballistic matter, review contractor submittals and support regulatory approvals under the relevant framework in each state or territory.
From planning secure communications rooms to certifying firing ranges for use by defence and law enforcement, SCG provides trusted, technically robust consultancy services that ensure safety, performance and operational readiness.
