Afiz is a security and engineering professional with over 25 years’ experience delivering complex, Defence and national security projects. As SCG’s Defence Market Sector Lead and Technical Delivery Lead, he is responsible for shaping strategy, overseeing technical delivery, and building strong stakeholder engagement across major infrastructure and secure facility programs. A SCEC-endorsed Security Zone Consultant and Registered Professional Engineer, Afiz specialises in the design, engineering, and project management of integrated physical and electronic security systems for high-threat environments, including advanced CCTV, access control, biometric, intrusion detection, and perimeter protection solutions. Known for his methodical approach, he ensures an optimal balance between compliance, functionality, and operational risk across Defence, government, justice, health, education, critical infrastructure, data centres, and transport projects.

Respected for his technical excellence, leadership, and commitment to mentoring, Afiz is driven by the professional satisfaction of seeing a project through from concept to completion—whether it’s a secure facility, sensitive Defence site or mission-critical infrastructure. He takes pride in delivering solutions that meet stringent operational requirements while standing the test of time, contributing to safer communities by protecting people, strengthening organisations, and enhancing national security. With a strong focus on growing SCG’s Defence market sector presence, Afiz is passionate about securing opportunities in landmark programs such as AUKUS, ensuring his team continues to tackle challenging, high-profile projects that shape Australia’s future defence capability. Outside of work, Afiz enjoys maintaining his fitness and wellbeing, experimenting with emerging technologies such as 3D printing, and undertaking hands-on building projects, alongside a love of travel when time permits. He also values spending quality time with his family.
