Andreas Demetriou

Security and ICT Engineer, New South Wales

Andreas is a Security Consultant with a background in electronics engineering and project management, bringing valuable experience from both the estimating and construction sectors into his work at SCG. His ability to understand the language, motivations, and constraints of contractors has made him highly effective in bridging the gap between design intent and on-site delivery. Since joining SCG as a graduate, Andreas has progressed to leading projects across defence, data centres, and government facilities, applying his strong technical foundation and practical insight to ensure security solutions are both robust and buildable. He particularly enjoys the diversity of projects and the opportunity to learn from highly experienced colleagues, drawing on their insights to inform his own approach to complex security challenges.

Much of Andreas’s recent work has focused on large-scale data centres and defence projects, where he has been involved from initial risk and vulnerability assessments through to design, construction support and final witness testing. He is especially interested in site planning and projects that require balancing new and existing infrastructure, finding creative ways to harden facilities within tight operational and budgetary constraints. Outside of work, Andreas enjoys spending time with his young family, often exploring the coast or tackling DIY projects at home. A former water polo player and swimmer who later volunteered at his local club leading and guiding young swimmers in competition, he is an active member of Engineers Australia and ASIS International. He values mentoring younger colleagues and creating opportunities for graduates to develop their skills. For Andreas, the most rewarding part of his role is producing work that has lasting value for clients and fostering growth in those around him.
