Gavin is a Principal Security Consultant with over two decades of experience spanning both Government and consulting roles. Beginning his career in IT and cybersecurity with the Australian Federal Police, he went on to hold specialist roles across cyber, physical, and personnel security, including a decade in protective security leadership.

Now leading SCG’s Canberra office, Gavin manages complex, large-scale security projects that demand strategic foresight, multi-stakeholder engagement, and the ability to integrate policy, technology, and practical implementation. Known for his strategic mindset, he excels in planning and shaping solutions that identify gaps, align with policy intent, and deliver robust outcomes.
As a trusted subject matter expert, Gavin provides enterprise-level advice on protective security, risk, and assurance to high-profile state and federal government organisations. His expertise spans the full security risk spectrum, from executive advisory and capability development through to operational planning, documentation design, and assurance of nationally significant infrastructure.

Drawing on his experience in both the policy and delivery sides of government, he contributes to shaping national security frameworks through conference presentations and policy development. Outside of work, Gavin devotes time to family life, home renovations, and restoring classic muscle cars—pursuits that reflect his practical, hands-on approach and eye for detail.
