With more than 25 years in the security industry across Australia, the Middle East, and the UK, Matt brings a rare blend of technical expertise and leadership capability to his role as Director at SCG. His career spans electrical trade beginnings, engineering, and specialist security consulting, equipping him with the ability to lead projects from risk assessment and strategy through to design, assurance, construction and sign off. Having worked in some of the world’s most complex jurisdictions and high-threat environments, he has delivered tailored solutions across transport, defence, aviation, government, data centres, financial services, and commercial sectors. Known for his ability to front major programs such as Sydney Metro and large-scale international developments, Matt thrives on guiding teams to deliver innovative, pragmatic, and lasting security outcomes. His expertise spans security risk management, crisis and emergency response, security engineering design, SCEC advisory, and operational security.
Beyond project delivery, Matthew is driven by a commitment to empowering people and building capability. A former professional basketball player, he applies teamwork, discipline, and strategic thinking from the court to his work, fostering high-performing, collaborative teams that thrive under pressure. He is passionate about mentoring emerging consultants, sharing industry knowledge, and promoting emotional intelligence as much as technical skill. Family, travel, and sport remain central to his life, with adventures shared alongside his wife and two sons.
